  What's a firewall?

A firewall is software or hardware that helps prevent hackers and some types of malware from getting to your PC through a network or the Internet. It does this by checking the info that’s coming from the Internet or a network and then either blocking it or allowing it to pass through to your PC.

A firewall isn't the same thing as an antivirus or antimalware app. Firewalls help protect against worms and hackers, antivirus apps help protect against viruses, and antimalware apps help protect against malware. You need all three. You can use Windows Defender, the antivirus and antimalware software that's included with Windows 8, or you can use another antivirus and antimalware app.

You only need one firewall app on your PC (in addition to the firewall that's probably built into your network router). Having more than one firewall app on your PC can cause conflicts and problems.

Windows Firewall comes with Windows and is turned on by default.

We recommend that you use these default firewall settings:

• The firewall is on for all network connections.
• The firewall is blocking all inbound connections except those that you specifically allow.
• The firewall is on for all network types (Private, Public, or Domain).

  • PCs running Windows RT or Windows 8 can't join a domain. You can only join a domain if your PC is runningWindows 8 Pro or Windows 8 Enterprise.

Steps to Enable Windows Firewall In Windows 8

Caution: Only one software firewall should be enabled at a time. If you have an antivirus or other security program installed with its own firewall make sure it is disabled first.

1. Press Window Button+s type Firewall.

2.Suddenly result come in top Check firewall Status, click on that.

3. A Dialog Box open ,now left side you see that
Turn Windows Firewall On or Off option click on that.

4. Select the Turn on Windows Firewall for both Private Network Settings and Public Network Settings.

When you enabling the firewall for both networks,your computer protects you from harmful activity come from the open Internet.

 Turn Windows 8 Firewall off

If your computer is conected to anetwork ,network policy setting might prevent you for completing these steps.

1. Open Windows Firewall by swiping in from the right edge of the screen, tapping Search (or if you're using a mouse, pointing to the upper-right corner of the screen, moving the mouse pointer down, and then clicking Search), enteringfirewall in the search box, and then tapping or clicking Windows Firewall.
2. Tap or click Turn Windows Firewall on or off .  You might be asked for an admin password or to confirm your choice. 
3. Tap or click Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) under each network type that you want to stop trying to protect, and then tap or click OK.

Steps to Enable Windows Firewall In Windows 7

1. Open Windows Firewall by clicking the Start button , and then clicking Control Panel. In the search box, typefirewall, and then click Windows Firewall.
2. Click Turn Windows Firewall on or off.  If you're prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.
3. Click Turn off Windows Firewall (not recommended) under each network location that you want to stop trying to protect, and then click OK.

Steps to Enable Windows Firewall In Windows XP

Caution: Only one software firewall should be enabled at a time. If you have an antivirus or other security program installed with its own firewall make sure it is disabled first.

1. Click Start, Settings, Control Panel and open Network Connections.
2. Within the Network Connections window, right-click the Local Area Connectionand select properties.
3. Within the Local Area Connection Properties window, click the Advanced tab.
4. Finally, check the Protect my computer and network by limiting or preventing access to this computer from the Internet option.

Turn Windows Xp Firewall off

If your computer is connected to a network, network policy settings might prevent you from completing these steps.

              1.Click on Start and then Control Panel.

              2.Click on the Network and Internet Connections link.

1. Note: If you're viewing the Classic View of Control Panel, double-click on the Network Connections icon and skip to Step 4.
2. 3.under the or pick a Control Panel iconsection, click on the Network Connectionslink.
3. 4.In the Network Connections window, right-click on your network connection and choose Properties.
   Note: If you have a "high speed" Internet connection like Cable or DSL, or are on a network of some kind, your network connection will likely be titled Local Area Connection.
4. 5.Choose the Advanced tab in the Properties window of your network connection.
5. 6.In the Windows Firewall section under the Advanced tab, click on the Settings... button.
6. 7.Choose the Off (not recommended) radio button in the Windows Firewall window.
7. 8.Click OK in this window and click OK again in the Properties window of your network connection.
8. 9.You can now close the Network Connections window.
9. 10.Now that the Windows Firewall is disabled, repeat whatever steps caused your problem to see if disabling this option has fixed your problem
   .

So I recommend you always check your firewall its opened or not because some malicious software disable your windows firewall.
